The stars between the horizon at Auckland and the River Styx are
used to scale the comet's tail and establish the time of the photograph.

The stars are of sufficient altitude that they have negligible refraction.
The apparent error in position is a function of time error and refraction at the
horizon.

The green horizon lines are the true horizon above the apparent horizon for
objects below the true horizon.
The refraction make the comet appear to be above the horizon.

The "kite" is an arbitrary selection of stars used to scale the comet.
The tail is approximately 14 degrees as overlayed.
The distance to the comet is 0.844832 AU, or 78,533,158 miles (126,386,867 km).
The length of the tail of the comet is 0.21 AU, or 31,036,712 mile (19,285,319
km).

When the comet appeared in the photographs by Newman on January 18, 2007, it was
moving southward along the ancient river of Egypt the Greeks called the Styx.
The bright star at the top of this image is in
Eridanus, with the name
Achernar, which means the end of
the river. The Phoenix stands on
Achernar proving that
Eridanus is the River Styx, or the river of death across which the Centaur
carries Lost Souls into Hades at the bottom of the cosmos..
In Greek mythology, Styx (Στυξ) is the name of a river which formed the boundary between Earth and the Underworld, Hades. It circles Hades nine times. The rivers Styx, Phlegethon, Acheron and Cocytus all converge at the center of Hades on a great marsh. The other important rivers of Hades are Lethe and Eridanos.

Flipping the southern skies so that north is upward, we can see that the myths
of the North Men are written in the connections of the stars. The "Home" of
Comet C/2006 P1 McNaught is the crook in the Red Crown of Egypt. This is the
altar built by Noah after the inundation in
Genesis 8:19-21.
Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark. And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
On its way north the comet passed through the Bow in the Cloud which was a sign of the covenant between God and all living expressed in Genesis 9:12-16
And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
This is the spirit nature of Comet McNaught. It is a sign of death and reincarnation.

A detailed examination of the path of Comet McNaught reveals the same nature as
the inundation story of Noah.
The axis of the comet's parallax path to and from its Home in Ara passes through
the tail of the Great Red Dragon, whose spirit is unbalanced desire, and Pluto,
which is the Neptunian Object named after the tyrannical lord of Hades. The
highest position of the comet occurred in Scutum, the Shield, where the comet
crossed the River Styx where the apparition of the Child in Swaddling Cloths
rides the eagle to the Land above the Land over the Milky Way.
